The beauty of dreaming big & asking “what if…?”

The wildest adventures, decisions, and changes start with a single moment of inspiration that ignites something in you and makes you wonder, what if?

What if I could actually do a multi-day hike on my own?

What if I could actually start a business and make it a success?

What if I could actually live by the mountains?

What if I could actually let myself dream big and create the life I’ve always dreamed of?

Often we only allow ourselves to dream for a few moments before forcing ourselves back down to earth.

Who am I to do that?

What’s the point when I’ll fail?

What about when I’m more ready/less busy/more confident/any other adjective?

And just like that, you’re back where you were before. And the dream drifts off and maybe reaches someone else, who does exactly what it was you so wanted to do (hi, envy).

But sometimes, you manage to break past the fear and insecurity and nurture the inspiration into action.

You book the time off work, choose which train to take, or send out an email to possible first clients.

You take action that makes it impossible for you to back out.

Over the last year, I’ve fallen out of the habit of making time to dream more than a few times.

With the covid-19 whirlwind, I was more focused on getting through the day (hell, getting out of bed) than dreaming up what I wanted to do with the next chapter of my life.

But now as everything is opening back up (at least here in Scandinavia), there’s a feeling of change and renewal in the air. It feels like it’s time for me to step out of my cocoon again.

I’m remembering how much joy there is in imagining, creating, and dreaming.

This isn’t about seeking perfection or never being happy where you are. You can know that you are enough – exactly as you are right now, without changing a thing about yourself – while allowing yourself to make art of your life.

It’s about giving yourself the permission to playfully wonder, what if? To hold ideas, dreams, and questions lightly and see where they lead you, just because.

What about you – is it the right time for you to dream bigger and inspire your next chapter? What’s your next big step to creating your most adventurous, playful, and abundant life?
